Zed's Threads Sidebar brings multiple coding assistant threads into one editor window. The tutorial starts by importing conversation history from external agents, then runs Zed's built-in agent, Claude Agent and Cursor's agent on README questions. Blue dots mark completed threads with unread results, and the sidebar lets the presenter stop a thread or switch between agents.
The demonstration also covers projects with multiple repository folders. The presenter adds the zed.dev website alongside the Zed client and creates separate Git worktrees for both. An agent then works on fresh checkouts to rename extensions to plugins without changing the original checkouts. The presenter follows edits in the editor and opens a side-by-side diff while the agent continues working.
There is a practical Git detail: the demonstrated worktree starts without a branch. Before committing, the presenter creates a branch called plugins, then points out the publish button for pushing it.
Archiving has storage consequences. The speaker explains that Zed stores worktree contents, including uncommitted changes, in Git storage and removes temporary directories. Reopening the archived thread restores the work and its diff, but Git-ignored directories remain deleted.
