Whisper Mate

Whisper Mate is a local-first transcription app for people who need text from recordings, calls or audio playing on their Mac. It brings transcription and subtitle work into one editor, with media processing that can stay on the Mac.

• Files and live audio: Transcribe existing recordings or capture a selected app, your microphone, or both, with timestamped text appearing as the audio plays.
• Translated subtitles: Edit subtitle lines and export original, translated or bilingual SRT files, then preview subtitles or burn them into a video.
• Media trimming: Select sections on a waveform and send them to Whisper for transcription, or merge and export the selected clips.
• Subtitle voice tracks: Generate speech for translated subtitle lines, audition each line and synchronize it with the video using a choice of text-to-speech engine and speaker.
• Scripted transcription: A command-line interface supports audio capture, transcription and streamed translation for repeatable tasks and automations.

Whisper Mate runs on macOS 13.3 or later and is available through the Mac App Store or a direct download. You can choose the transcription model and spoken language. It supports Whisper transcription and also offers a Deepgram engine.
