Claude Context
An open-source MCP code search server gives coding assistants relevant repository context, with Ollama embeddings and Milvus or hosted Zilliz Cloud storage.
Claude Context adds repository search to AI coding assistants so they can retrieve relevant code without loading whole directories into their context. It's for developers working with large codebases that an assistant needs to understand.
- Keyword and semantic search: Find code by exact terms or describe what it does in natural language, with results that combine both search methods.
- Index updates and scope: The index updates changed files, and you can choose which file types and paths it includes.
- Coding assistant integration: Give Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI and other MCP-compatible clients access to codebase search.
- Editor and library access: Search within VS Code through a separate extension, or use the core library to add indexing and retrieval to an application.
The MCP server runs on Node.js, and the project is open source under the MIT license. It supports code in TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Go, Rust and Swift, among other languages.
Search requires a vector database: Milvus or the hosted Zilliz Cloud service. Zilliz Cloud requires an account and API key. Embedding providers include Ollama, OpenAI, VoyageAI and Gemini.
