Google AI Edge Eloquent is an AI dictation app for iPhone and iPad that turns spoken thoughts into edited text using on-device Gemma models. It's for people who prefer speaking to typing but don't want every hesitation or self-correction carried into their notes and drafts.
The app removes filler words and cleans up disorganized speech. You can also keep the original transcript, copy it, and find it alongside edited text in your dictation history. Beyond live dictation, it can transcribe audio and video files from Photos or Files, so it also suits people with existing recordings to work through.
Dictation works offline after an initial model download, including in supported languages such as English, Spanish, German, Chinese, Japanese, and Hindi. Local speech processing keeps audio on your device. Some optional features use the cloud, including text styles and polishing in languages other than English. The app's privacy disclosures also allow collection of personal information, usage data, and diagnostics, so local inference doesn't mean the entire app operates without data collection.
An editable personal dictionary learns your vocabulary to improve recognition. You can optionally connect a Google account to build that dictionary from account data, which the app processes on your device. Google AI Edge runtimes support dictation without requiring a flagship phone. The app also supports iPad and Apple Vision devices.
