Lumina Note is a local Markdown note-taking app for people who want AI to work across their note collection. Its built-in agent can draft pages, reorganize folders and connect related notes with your permission. Notes stay as plain files in a folder you control, so you can read, edit and back them up outside the app.
The editor has live preview and a separate reading mode. WikiLinks and backlinks let you follow connections between pages, while graph views show how the collection fits together. The workspace also includes PDFs, annotations, images and flashcards. The agent can summarize PDFs and generate flashcards from your material, alongside writing and research tasks across the vault.
You choose the AI backend. Ollama provides a route to running models locally; OpenAI-compatible endpoints let you connect another service or your own server. Cloud options include OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, DeepSeek and OpenRouter. Lumina Cloud is an optional hosted AI service that requires a license. The note files remain local, while cloud-backed AI sends the material it processes to the selected service.
The app is open source under Apache License 2.0 and runs on Windows, Linux x64 and macOS, including Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Its agent uses the opencode runtime, and agent skills and custom commands let you extend the work it can do inside the vault.
