ONLYOFFICE Docs is a self-hosted office suite for teams that want browser-based document editing and AI assistance on their own servers. It handles Word, Excel and PowerPoint formats (.docx, .xlsx and .pptx), alongside PDFs and fillable forms. The free community edition is open source under AGPL-3.0 and runs through Docker or on Linux and Windows servers.
AI assistance comes through the official AI plugin, which must be activated and configured with a provider. It offers text generation, rewriting, summarization, translation, grammar checks and macro creation across document, spreadsheet, presentation and PDF editors. Local Ollama models are supported; cloud providers receive the selected content passed to AI features. Different models can serve different tasks.
For shared editing, Docs supports live co-editing, comments and mentions, document comparison, and tracked changes. Teams can grant separate permissions for viewing, editing, reviewing or filling forms. Built-in chat sits alongside communication options through Telegram, Jitsi and Rainbow.
Docs connects to platforms such as Nextcloud, Moodle, Odoo and WordPress, so teams can edit files within the systems they already use. Developers can also embed the editors in their own web apps. Plugins extend the editors, while format conversion covers Markdown, HTML and EPUB as well as office files.
ONLYOFFICE also offers hosted collaboration through DocSpace. Its separate, free Desktop Editors work offline on Windows, Linux and macOS, and mobile apps are available for iOS and Android.
