Prime Agent is a local AI coding and research agent for developers and researchers whose tasks need to continue across terminal sessions. It runs commands and edits files in your project directory, while background sessions keep working after you disconnect. The code is open source under the MIT License. Model access uses a subscription or an API-key provider.
Its main distinction is persistent working state. A Python control environment retains context alongside memories, reusable skills, and instructions for subagents. Its Recursive Language Model approach lets the agent manage context and call tools through code, which suits extended coding tasks and research evaluations.
Prime Agent can review a session and save focused lessons as supplemental instructions or memories. These refinements stay local to the session by default, leave the base system prompt intact, and have recorded snapshots for rollback. A built-in skill creator can turn recurring workflows into executable Python skills for a project or personal use.
Subagents can work in parallel or in the background, exchange messages directly, and remain available across turns. Persistent goals track an objective's progress; schedules and periodic wakeups let a session return to work later. Autonomous runs have turn, token, and time budgets and can check user-defined quality gates. The agent executes generated code with your user permissions; its worker processes aren't a security sandbox.

Albert coordinates Claude Code agents for developers who want to hand off a coding goal across several tasks. Its harness and dashboard run locally on Windows, macOS or Linux, and it requires an installed, signed-in Claude Code account. It assigns work to Haiku, Sonnet or Opus according to the task and continues until the goal is complete or it reaches a requested review checkpoint.

Claude Code is an AI coding agent for developers who want to delegate work across a repository, from bug fixes to longer refactors and migrations. It runs locally on macOS, Linux, and Windows, but sends requests to cloud model APIs. It is proprietary software and requires authentication to a supported model service.
Agents Studio is a self-hosted app for developers who want Claude Code to work on their repositories while they're away. It runs on your machine, with browser and terminal interfaces, and supports macOS and Linux. The software is open source under the MIT license. Claude Code must be installed and signed in; sessions can also use Cursor's signed-in agent.
aionrs is a Rust command-line AI agent for developers who want an assistant to work directly with local files and shell commands while choosing their own model provider. It can inspect a project, edit code, search files and view images, then carry out tasks across multiple tool calls.
Claw Orchestrator is a self-hosted runtime for developers who want to coordinate coding agents on their own machine or server. It brings Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, Grok Build and OpenCode into one interface, with support for custom coding CLIs. The runtime and browser dashboard run locally.
