Scrieb transcribes recordings and meetings for people who need to keep sensitive conversations on their own computer. Speech recognition, summaries and meeting chat all work locally, with no cloud processing option.

  • Recording and file import: Record directly, capture system audio from Zoom, Teams or Google Meet without a meeting bot, or import audio and video files such as MP3, WAV, M4A and MP4.
  • Speaker labels: Automatic speaker identification separates participants in meeting and interview transcripts.
  • Summaries and chat: Extract key points from long recordings and ask about meeting content using AI that runs on your computer.
  • Transcript export: Save transcripts as TXT, DOCX or PDF, with an optional setting that deletes recordings after export.

Scrieb uses Whisper Small, Medium or Large v3 Turbo for speech recognition, plus separate local models for speaker identification and summaries. It runs on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs and Windows 10 or 11 PCs with x64 or ARM64 processors. It's optimized for laptops with at least 8GB of RAM; GPU acceleration is optional.

The local database supports optional encryption with a key stored in the OS keychain. Audio file protection depends on FileVault or BitLocker disk encryption. Downloading doesn't require an account. Scrieb is paid software with a free trial; licence syncing uses email sign-in, and an offline licence keeps recording available without internet access.
