This tutorial, uploaded on September 28, 2023 as a re-upload, shows ChatDev by OpenBMB simulating a software company whose AI agents take roles such as CEO, designer and product manager. The speaker demonstrates it as a coding assistant that builds an application from a written task. No ChatDev release version or separate recording date is supplied.
The setup runs on a Mac. The speaker says Windows should also work and notes differences in environment variable syntax and Python invocation. The walkthrough requires Anaconda, a cloned repository, an isolated Conda environment, installed Python requirements and an OpenAI API key. It describes the workflow shown in 2023, rather than establishing current installation instructions. Although the project runs on the user's computer, this demonstration relies on an external API, not an offline model.
The example task requests a to-do app with add, complete, edit and delete actions. The run reports 16,000 tokens and places generated projects in the Warehouse folder. A browser interface replays the agent conversation from a log file, while the chat chain visualizer shows prompts and connected roles. The upload description later reports $0.13 in credits and ChatGPT 3.5 for this run; those are the creator's reported results, not a general cost estimate. A supplied Flappy Bird example runs in Visual Studio Code, but the speaker points out overlapping pipes and calls it far from perfect.
