Agent of Empires (AoE) is an open source terminal dashboard for managing multiple coding agents. The presenter explains that it sits above existing tools rather than replacing the coding assistant itself. The demonstration uses Claude sessions and shows how to create named agents, send prompts, switch between sessions and group agents into folders.
The Mac setup uses Homebrew, followed by the AoE launch command. Much of the walkthrough focuses on monitoring: the dashboard reports running, waiting, idle and error states without requiring the user to attach to each session. The presenter describes Git worktrees as a way to give agents separate branches within the same repository, and optional Docker sandboxes as a way to contain their access. These are workflow isolation features; the speaker's claims about eliminating collisions and keeping the system safe are not independently verified here.
The review compares AoE with tmux and Agent Deck, emphasizing its worktree and sandbox workflows. It also discusses persistent sessions, project profiles and built-in diffs. The presenter mentions phone access but explicitly says he did not test it. Limitations include a terminal learning curve, a web dashboard with rough edges and reported tmux bugs. He recommends AoE mainly for people running two or more CLI agents, with little benefit for a single-agent workflow.
