Tolaria is an open source desktop notes app built around a folder of Markdown files on your computer. The presenter describes an editor with a sidebar, search and previews, without an account requirement. Notes remain ordinary text files that other tools can read and edit.

The overview explains how note types, properties and wiki links organize the folder. Links show connections in both directions. Built-in Git views display changes and history for individual notes or the whole vault, with commit and push controls inside the app. For AI edits, those diffs give users a way to inspect changes before committing them.

Tolaria can run command-line tools such as Claude Code, Codex and Gemini in a panel beside the notes. According to the presenter, the chat receives the current note and linked notes as context. This is an AI agent workflow around local files; the transcript does not establish that the connected tools perform inference offline.

The installation discussion describes a single Homebrew command for Mac and downloads for Windows and Linux. The presenter calls those two builds early and says development is concentrated on Mac. The app uses Tauri and Rust. Users must install agent tools themselves and manage Git remotes and occasional merge conflicts. The video also identifies an AGPL license and flags it as relevant to commercial code reuse.
