OpenMAIC is a self-hosted AI classroom platform for learners and educators building lessons from a topic or their own materials. AI teachers and classmates explain concepts and discuss questions during the lesson.
- Interactive lessons: Generate slides, quizzes, HTML simulations and project activities, with spoken explanations and whiteboard diagrams or formulas.
- Conversational course editing: Plan curricula and revise pages, narration or course structure through follow-up requests, using uploaded documents, audio and video as material.
- Reusable course files: Import PowerPoint slides with their layouts preserved, then export editable PPTX slides or interactive HTML pages.
- Agent integrations: Generate classrooms through OpenClaw, Codex, DeepSeek or WorkBuddy; OpenClaw also connects this workflow to messaging apps including Slack, Feishu and Telegram.
The code is open source under MIT. A self-hosted server stores courses, learner records and assets in PostgreSQL, with optional S3 asset storage. Browser settings and playback position stay in the browser.
Lemonade supplies local language models, image generation, speech synthesis and transcription without an API key. FunASR provides local speech recognition, including CPU-only operation. Audio and video extraction can run locally with ffmpeg and a configured speech provider, or use the AliDocMind cloud service. Data sent outside your server depends on the providers you choose.
